Details of the location

The vineyards extend along a south-facing slope at an altitude of 350 to 500 meters above sea level. The soil consists of clayey marl lying on primary rocks such as porphyry and granite.

From grape to wine

Vinification starts with the destemming of late-harvested but perfectly healthy grapes, followed by an 8-hour cold maceration. This is followed by pressing and natural must clarification. Slow fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 18 °C, followed by 6 months of aging in steel tanks on the fine lees.

− light, golden yellow color
− intense nose, rose blossoms, lychee, cloves, cinnamon, a hint of sage, complex and multi-faceted
− dense volume on the palate, very clean and direct, tropical fruit on the lingering finish

The perfect accompaniment

This Gewürztraminer harmonizes perfectly with prawns and tasty fish dishes as well as Asian cuisine. Try it with thinly sliced pancetta for a taste sensation. It is also outstanding as an aromatic aperitif wine.

The origin of this wine

The name Gewürztraminer goes back to the neighboring village of Kaltern Tramin, where this variety was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century. Whether the variety really originated in Tramin is debatable. The fact is that it has a very long tradition in Alto Adige and produces excellent wines.
